Abstract : 「緒言」 唾液腺の活動は自律神経系が担っているが, 副交感神経と交感神経の拮抗作用はなく, 副交感神経は主に水分の分泌を調節し, 交感神経は主にタンパク質成分の開口分泌に関与している. 顎下腺の交感神経性の分泌機構は上頸神経節からの節後線維が, 副交感神経性の分泌機構は上唾液核からの節前線維が顎下神経節に達し, 顎下神経節からの節後線維がそれぞれ腺体へ分布し唾液の分泌に関与する. さらに顎下神経節からの節後線維は主導管にも分布して唾液成分の再調整に関与していることも既に知られている. そして近年, 唾液分泌の調節などにvasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP), neuropeptide Y (NPY) そしてorexin (ORX)などの神経ペプチドや, 生理活性アミンの一種で中枢神経系の神経伝達物質として働くserotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine: 5-HT)などが関わるとの報告がされてきている.

Title : Morphological and Immunohistochemical Studies on the Postnatal Development of the Submandibular Ganglion

Abstract : [Abstract] The submandibular glands and main excretory ducts of rats undergo a complex process of growth and morphological differentiation postnatally. The detailed morphology of the submandibular ganglions during postnatal period has not been extensively studied. Here, we analyzed the morphological and immunohistochemical changes in the submandibular ganglions of postnatal rats. Orexin A-, neuropeptide Y (NPY)-, and serotonin (5-HT)-immunoreactivities were observed in all neuronal somata of the ganglion at one week after birth. However, Orexin B- and vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP)-immunoreactive cells were not observed at this stage. At three weeks after birth, NPY-, 5-HT-, VIP-, orexin A-, and orexin B-immunoreactive neuronal somata were observed. At three weeks after birth, orexin B- and VIP-immunoreactive neurons were first detected in the submandibular ganglion, thus revealing that there was a relationship between morphological maturity of a salivary gland and orexin B and VIP's appearance. Based on the morphological maturation of the submandibular gland and main excretory duct at three to four weeks after birth, the expression of orexin B and VIP in the submandibular ganglion may associate with the morphological maturity of the submandibular gland.
