Abstract : | [Abstract] The word, osseointegration, which represents integration between the osseous tissue and the implant body, is not a biological term. It is, however, no exaggeration to say that the phenomenon is pivotal for dental implants. Many researchers have pointed out that the roughness of implant material surface is important to firmly maintain this phenomenon. The joint study of implants, based on mutual understanding between biology and engineering, is indispensable for the coexistence of vital osseous tissue and biomaterial which is a not of the same organism. Hence, this paper attempts to explain the interface between the osseous tissue and implant material. |
