Abstract : | [Abstract] The purpose of this study was examined the vascular network regenerated beneath the implant interface epithelium. In this study, we performed plaque control by brushing and evaluated the gingival soft tissue surrounding titanium implants placed in mandibles of dogs. We used microvascular resin casts and scanning electron microscopy to examine the regenerated vascular network. The vascular network beneath the interface epithelium comprised a single layer of capillaries with a fishnet-like network. This network was directed toward the upper margin, with no change in network structure. These results suggest that plaque control inhibited proliferation in the deep layer of the interface epithelium and maintains close cohesion between the implant and epithelium. The absence of deep epithelial proliferation is considered one of the ideal factors for implants. |
